So many people get their knickers in a bundle when we tell them we don't have refrigeration. It is always followed by the question "What (on Earth!) will you EAT!?!"
Well, we spent $300 at the grocery store yesterday so I'm sure we'll think of something...
The more important question is, where IS it all now?
I've met a lot of live aboards who don't have refrigeration and they've been just peachy with it! But I really like my ice! And since our boat came with a refrigerator/freezer we're adding two solar panels in order to hopefully keep things 'cold' for us this winter when we go to the Bahamas. I would love to read about how you keep things fresh, what you eat, and cook etc... as I'm sure a lot of other live aboards would! Please keep us all posted!
We didn't have refrigeration either. We were able to get blocks of ice all the was to Florida and it really wasn't much of a sacrifice at all.
Once we left the states though ice was hard to come by and we got sick of canned and dried foods. Next boat is definitely going to have refrigeration and a portable generator for the days with no wind, sun or motoring.
I also met people who didn't mind not having refrigeration. Happy to be able to follow your trip south.
Have something to say? Feel free to comment! We love to hear from you! Unfortunately, slow internet combined with three little ones means I might not be able to comment back. But, either way, I love to hear from you all. Note: Negative comments with no purpose but to antagonize will be deleted with out a second thought.
Looks like you have enough to feed your brains... I like the row of book, there are never enough shelves in a boat!
